Something to Think About

This tragedy at Sandy Hook has again brought a focus on the mission. Not just those who lost their kids and loved ones, but on the simple fact is there are a lot of people who are hurting and asking lots of questions.

Too, at this time that we as believer can tell them about the child born for us, the son that is given and the government will be on His shoulders, who is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. There is Hope that we can bring to the world. For Joy to the World a King has come.

Mike Smith, Lead Pastor at Redeeming Love Church shared this with me in a recent email. The thought of these words are simply, “What keeps us from seeing His glory in our lives? Here are three simple things to think about!

1. The distraction of strife.

James 3:14-16 (KJV)

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth… [16] For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work… vs. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. There is no glory where there is strife.

2. The distraction of self.

Philip. 2:3-5 (KJV) Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. [4] Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. [5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Vain glory is ‘empty’ glory. We must empty ourselves of … ‘empty glory’.

3. The distraction of darkness.

John 1:4-5 (KJV) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

And…John 3:19 (NLT) The light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the light, for their act

Everyday there are those in your world who need to know that someone cares in the midst of where they are on their life’s journey. For every season of life comes with its challenges, pains, victories and opportunities. In whatever season you are in remember, God is with you and he will never leave or forsake us.

Make room in your heart for the King of Kings and experience His glory in your life, no matter what season you are in.

Where are you at this time in your life? Distracted by strife? Self? or Darkness?
